A true masterpiece !
A duck version of "The Girl with a Pearl Earring" by Johannes Vermeer
Dimensions: 8.5 x 9.5 x 7.5cm (L x H x W)
Produced in 1665 by Johannes Vermeer, this Girl with a Pearl Earring , originally Young Girl in a Turban is unquestionably a major work of Western art. Often referred to as " Northern Mona Lisa », this portrait would represent one of the painter's daughters. On a black background, the softness of the features of a young woman wearing a blue and yellow turban emerges.
She seems to mean something. But what is she waiting for ? The mystery remains intact. She stares at the viewer over her shoulder and doesn't seem to want to look away. The small, non-negligible detail to which we owe the name of the work is obviously this pearl which shines and confronts the ambient darkness and which would symbolize chastity.
