The flag of the United Kingdom, known as the Union Flag or Union Jack, was created in 1606, after the Union of the Crowns of England and Scotland under their common monarch Jacques Stuart, which arose around a hundred years before the actual creation of the Kingdom of Great Britain by the Act of Union of 1707.
