Back to the Future is an American science fiction film directed by Robert Zemeckis, released in 1985.
The plot chronicles the journey into the past of a teenager, Marty McFly, aboard a time machine made by Doctor Emmett Brown from a model car DeLorean DMC-12. Starting in 1985 and propelled in 1955, Marty, helped by the “Doc” of 1955, must resolve the temporal paradoxes caused by his interventions in the past and find a way to make the machine work to return to his original era. .
While the film was intended as a single film, its commercial success resulted in two sequels, Back to the Future 2 (1989) and Back to the Future 3 (1990), which formed a trilogy and resulted in the development of a franchise on various media.
